Best Selling Christian Books and Reviews

The following is some of the better selling Christian books and my reviews of them.

Your Best Life Now” by Joel Osteen

This book has become a national bestseller. This man truly flows with knowledge and revelation from the Lord and you cannot go wrong with any of his solid biblical teachings. He has one of the biggest churches in America.

While there are a number of personalities out there that has openly criticized his writing, branding him as overly seeker-sensitive in most of his sermons, his book clearly conveys deep understanding and wisdom about God and our personal callings -delivered in the most practical and down-to-earth way.

God’s Generals: Why They Succeeded” by Roberts Liardon

For people who are seeking to learn about the most celebrated saints in the past and have walked what is regarded as the higher level such as the likes of Kathryn Kuhlmann, AimeeSemple Mcpherson and Marie Woodworth-Etter, this book provides readers basic information about their ministries. It recounts how these saints have started with their callings and the incredible occurrences that have occurred during their services with the Lord.

This book contains stories about how they journeyed with God and how they learned how to walk with some of the highest levels of the anointing. Aside from their successes in their respective ministries, their failures are also sources of lessons to learn from. This is the only book I know that goes into very good basic detail into all of these people’s lives.

“The Holy Spirit” by Billy Graham

This is yet another good and solid book that primarily centers on the Holy Spirit, written from one of the greatest evangelist of all time, Billy Graham. In this book, he discusses about the nine gifts and the nine fruits of the Holy Spirit and also shows how the Holy Spirit convicts and leads sinners back to the Lord to achieve eternal salvation. This book becomes one of the most influential books that will help ordinary people in the journey in this thing we all call life.

“Maximizing the Moment: God’s Action Plan for Your Life” by T. D. Jakes

One of the greatest pastors and teachers of today, T.D. Jakes, is a truly gifted speaker. This is especially true to those who watched him preach on TV in the area of motivating the saints to become everything that God is calling them to become in Him in this life. Jakes is one of the most intense speakers of our time.

The book generally goes into detail on maximizing God’s calling and what to can do for Him in this life. He expertly covers on how to be released from a hurtful past and how to be able to face and overcome the obstacles and emotional roadblocks that may hinder us from submitting ourselves to the Lord without any reservations.

It’s tough to meet a nice, Christians these days. You are looking for someone with shared beliefs, a shared sense of humor, and who likes to have fun. So, what can you do? First, ask God to direct your paths. Then, take the necessary steps down that path in the right location.

 Location #1: Church

Go to church. Simple enough, right? Yes and no. It’s difficult these days with large church attendance to get plugged in. If you aren’t plugged in, how can you find and get to know that someone special? Here’s the trick: know where to look. If you’re a guy looking for a girl, try serving in the nursery or children’s ministry areas of service. If you’re a girl, try out for the church’s softball team or maybe a special prayer group. Not only will you be blessed by serving, but you’ll be showing the other person that you are committed to serving the Lord, which is definitely a positive attribute in the eyes of most Christians.

 Location #2: Church Activities

Many churches have fun events outside of church. BBQs, game nights, sports nights, bake sales, and many, many more events are available. If there aren’t any available at your church, then create one! Additionally, many churches have small group Bible studies or prayer groups. They are a great way to learn and to meet other people as well. From those groups, it may be easier to break off and create fun events like the ones mentioned above. The possibilities are endless.

 Location #3: Bible Colleges

Bible College is an excellent place to meet and get to know Christian singles. Asking classmates to study or eat lunch with you in the cafeteria is an excellent way to get to know someone. Whether you actually attend the school yourself or not, many Bible colleges have a common study area to study, hang out, play games, or get to know people. Some colleges even have their own coffee shop. So, meeting Christian dates is another excellent reason for receiving a college education.

 Location #4: The Internet

Some of you may have actually shuddered at the thought of meeting someone on the Internet. But, there are so many great reasons and ways to meet someone on the Internet these days. Apprehension at trying online dating sometimes occurs because of the myth that online dating is for those who can’t get dates. This is not the case. Most people don’t have time for dating. Hectic work schedules, family, and friends are already a lot to juggle. The thought of adding dating to the mix may feel daunting. But with online dating you can instantly eliminate much of the getting to know someone pre-work.

By simply clicking a button, you can have access to hundreds of profiles of people that you already have a lot in common with. The Internet makes dating infinitely easier and less time consuming.

is anybody going to CHIC 2006?

CHIC is a BIG christian event 4 high school students (that happens every 3 years) and it’s being held in knoxville tennesse. our bus is leaving saturday night and wont be there until sunday afternoon. i was wondering if anyone has ever heard of it or is going?

We’re now going to broadcast Christian music (1 cd per week) over the telephone system’s speakers, and we’ll no longer be playing out personal radios in our offices. This is a Human Resources company, with absolutely no religious affiliations whatsoever. Is it legal for my employer to force the whole staff to listen Dove Award winning Christian R&B for 37.5 hours per week here in the USA?

When you think of weddings and imagine the list of songs that a bride and groom will choose, you would naturally picture out heartfelt, romantic love songs with all the mushy description of love. Commonly these are the kind songs couples would tend to choose to be played at on their wedding.

But have you ever thought about using a Christian wedding song with an upbeat melody? I have actually attended a wedding event wherein the bride and the groom chose a unique song line up. Instead of choosing the usual sentimental love songs, I was amazed and impressed when they opted to use Christian rock wedding music on their wedding reception.

Yes, you heard it right. They actually chose a wedding music with a rock genre. Contrary to the assumption that guests would not appreciate the song line-up, surprisingly everyone loved it and enjoyed it even the oldies. It is not even offensive because if you listen to the lyrics of the song, it actually is a Christian song, only it comes with an upbeat melody.

These days, modern couples are getting more and more open to suggestions and are eager to try out unique ways to make their special event really memorable and fun. Although most couples would still opt to choose the sentimental music, it is not a bad idea at all to suggest a different kind of song genre. Of course, you will need to consider the location where the song should be played. For instance, though the song is Christian by nature, I believe it’s not appropriate to be played during the wedding ceremony considering it is a solemn event. However, you can always play it during the wedding reception where everyone will surely enjoy.

So to all couples planning to get married, you might want to consider playing a Christian wedding song with a rock genre. Trust me, it’s very worth it.

Atheist Bibles-For-Porn Swap Riles Campus

A college atheist group is offering students pornography in exchange for Bibles.

Atheist Agenda calls the exchange “Smut for Smut,” prompting prayers and protests from Christian students at the University of Texas San Antonio campus.

Student Monica Cornado says it’s offensive to compare pornography to “the Word of God.”

University officials say the atheist group has the right to conduct the swap.

UTSA spokesman David Gabler says, “As long as students are not violating laws or violating the Constitution, they have the freedom of speech and assembly.”

The Atheist Agenda started at UTSA in 2005, and their first “Smut for Smut” campaign blew up into a national media sensation, reports CBS affiliate KENS in San Antonio. Past president Thomas Jackson was deluged with interview requests, and debated Tucker Carlson, the bow-tie-wearing conservative pundit, on MSNBC.

This year, organizers said a group of Christians amassed to protest the event, and one protester ripped a sign from someone’s hands. But police kept a watchful gaze over students involved in heated debates, and did not report any violence.

“This is ultimately why this is going on,” Lewis said. “It’s an ice breaker to get people talking about these things.”

What do you think ?

Is there a modern-day book author or speaker who discounts the concept of God sending His children to burn in Hell, and who accepts that even people who do not “accept” Jesus might be precious in God’s eyes?

An Atheist Professor of Philosophy was speaking to his Class on the Problem Science has

Professor : You are a Christian, aren’t you, son ?

Student : Sure.
Professor : Is GOD ALL – POWERFUL ?
Student : Yes.
Professor : My Brother died of Cancer even though he Prayed to GOD to Heal him.
Most of us would attempt to help others who are ill.
But GOD didn’t. How is this GOD good then? Hmm?
(Student was silent )

Professor : You can’t answer, can you ? Let’s start again, Young Fella.
Is GOD Good?
Student : Yes.
Professor : Is Satan good ?
Student : No.
Professor : Where does Satan come from ?
Student : From . . . GOD . .. .
Professor : That’s right. Tell me son, is there evil in this World?
Student : Yes.
Professor : Evil is everywhere, isn’t it ? And GOD did make everything. Correct?
Student : Yes.
Professor : So who created evil ?
(Student did not answer)

Professor : Is there Sickness? Immorality? Hatred? Ugliness?
All these terrible things exist in the World, don’t they?
Student : Yes, sir.
Professor : So, who Created them ?
(Student had no answer)

Professor : Science says you have 5 Senses you use to Identify and Observe the World around you..
Tell me, son . . . Have you ever Seen GOD?
Student : No, sir.
Professor : Tell us if you have ever Heard your GOD?
Student : No , sir.
Professor : Have you ever Felt your GOD, Tasted your GOD, Smelt your GOD?
Have you ever had any Sensory Perception of GOD for that matter?
Student : No, sir. I’m afraid I haven’t.
Professor : Yet you still Believe in HIM?
Student : Yes.
Professor : According to Empirical, Testable, Demonstrable Protocol,
Science says your GOD doesn’t exist. What do you say to that, son?
Student : Nothing.. I only have my Faith.
Professor : Yes,Faith. And that is the Problem Science has.

Student : Professor, is there such a thing as Heat?
Professor : Yes.
Student : And is there such a thing as Cold?
Professor : Yes.
Student : No, sir. There isn’t.
(The Lecture Theatre became very quiet with this turn of events )

Why do they do that? No one even listens to them, people are too busy driving.
