Effectively Creating a Strategic Marketing Plan

Strategic marketing is an excellent means of propelling your business to the next level of revenues. Indeed, the adage, “no man is an island” is particularly applicable in strategic marketing; the more islands you align yourself with, the greater your network, and the more powerful your revenue earning potential.

Yes indeed, we all know that strategic marketing is powerful. But how can you create an effective strategic marketing plan? Strategic marketing is a term that is thrown around casually and frequently, but how many people actually know how to execute a successful strategic marketing plan? In this article, I shall happily walk you through the steps of incorporating strategic marketing into your business arsenal.

Step 1: Understand your target customer base

The fundamental goal of strategic marketing is to utilize each other’s strengths to reach a larger audience base ‘ perhaps one that would not be available to the individual companies without the strategic marketing endeavour. Evaluate your current base of customers, and envision your ideal future mix of clients. Based upon this analysis, you should then consider which companies already possess the client base that you desire. Or, what company would be able to work with you in order to help you both obtain a client base that was individually out of reach.

Step 2: Evaluate what your customers need

When you think of your business from the customer’s perspective, it is often quite different than yours. Instead of evaluating what products would be easy for you to sell to them ‘ consider what products your customers need. This will help you find a strategic marketing partnership that can fulfil what customers’ needs. In addition, look at the bigger scope. If you are trying to reach a larger audience base, what type of packaged advertising would be most compelling to their needs? For example, if you are an accounting firm, then would your clients possibly also need legal service? A successful strategic marketing plan is based upon clients’ needs.

Step 3: Analyze the marketing tools to use

Marketing avenues abound, meaning that you can carefully pick and choose which marketing tools you use. Will you use offline, online, and/or word-of-mouth advertising? Decide if you want to create email marketing, PPC, or blog campaigns. Will you collaborate together on publishing articles, or perhaps split a booth at your industry trade show? Would you sponsor an industry event together, or perhaps publish a white paper jointly? The options for traditional and creative marketing are endless. It is important to create a strategic marketing campaign that will highlight the strengths of both companies ‘ and most effectively reach the target audience.

Step 4: Implementation!

Once you have laid the groundwork for the strategic marketing plan, it is time to implement the excitement! Working together with a partner can open up significant more doors, in both revenues and market share exposure. Make sure that your plan is well thought out, and that you both are on the same page, and you will be ready to push the “go” button on an endeavour that can take your business earnings to the next level.

Increase your Marketing Exposure With Joint Ventures

Yes, you did read the title correctly. To grow your company’s revenues, you should give away your products. The caveat is that the numbers of products you give away are minimal – but the exposure you receive in return is exponential. In fact, work together with several other joint venture partners, and your benefits increase tenfold.

Copyright (c) 2009 Christian Fea The hard part about joint ventures is the actual work in convincing a potential JV partner about the merits of the venture. Once you have a JV partner in hand, the next step is communicating together and working toward forming a solid business plan that will guide you to success with the venture. A joint venture marketing business plan does not need to be a fully composed booklet like the type mainly used for acquiring loans or other funding. Of course, the more detail you and your JV partner can put into your strategic plan, the better guide you will have. However, your business plan could be as simple as a one-page point-by-point strategic outline. Goal of Joint Venture Marketing Partnership Your number one assignment in forming a JV business plan is to spell out the goal for each party. The goal doesn’t necessarily have to be the same. Your specific goal in the partnership may be to get access to wider marketing base, while your JV partner’s goal may be to increase revenue through the sharing of technology and expertise. Be sure to spell out the goal so that neither you nor your JV partner has any miscommunication about why you are in the partnership. Assignment of Duties What specific duties will you perform? What will your JV partner do? Again, to avoid any misunderstanding in the division of duties to reach your JV partnership goals, write out the duties that each will perform along the way. Funding Sources How will you and your JV partner split expenses? Is your JV partnership large enough that it may need a bank loan? In your JV business plan, know how you and your partner will fund the venture. It may be as simple as contributing $1000 each into a JV “kitty” to get the venture rolling. Wherever the funding comes from, clarify who will pay for what expenses and how much each is willing to contribute. Resource Allotment Will you and your joint venture marketing partner need additional resources in addition to money? Perhaps you will contribute some of your employee expertise, or your JV partner will utilize his distributing network to make the JV a success. Be specific in how you will allot the resources needed. Division of Profits or Benefits If there is a profit to be made and split from the joint venture marketing endeavor, how will the funds be allocated? Perhaps it will be a 50/50 profit split, or depending on one partner’s additional resource allotment, the profits may be split 70/30. Be sure you each know what you will be receiving from the partnership. Exit Strategy Finally, make an exit strategy in your business plan, which will allow you and your JV partner to know when it is time to fold the cards. Perhaps your goal is a short-term partnership that will terminate after a specific event. Or, it could be an ongoing joint venture marketing project until one or both of the partners says they are ready to terminate the agreement. Spell it out clearly so that you both know how to wrap up the JV cleanly and without ill will towards the other.

Four Steps To Your Ministry Marketing Plan For Promotion Or Ways To Earn Extra Money Online Do you have a ministry marketing plan or strategic course of action for your ministry promotion or Christian home business online? I have found having a basic plan of action can be crucial in experiencing success whether working for my clients or simply looking to earn extra money online for provision for my vision. The Ministry Marketing Plan Of Action: P L A N: P stands for Predetermine your goals. Be specific with what you want to accomplish. Write it down and look at it often. You know the saying, “out of sight out of mind.” These goals need to be burned into your heart and mind. Break your goals down into a 90 or 120 day period. Make them real, where you can accomplish them. I recently had a 90 day goal and would put hash marks in the back of my Bible. I recorded significant events that happened along those 90 days. I didn’t quite make all of my goals, but accomplished enough to help me see even more clearly the Hand of God in my life. He knows my dreams and visions. He gives me the desires of my heart!!!!! “L” stands for Lay out a strategic course of ACTION!. For example, if you are looking to have a ministry marketing plan online to promote your Christian music or your ministry, you’ll want to identify your target audience. What kind of lead generation system will you use? Will you have people opt-in for something for free, or subscribe to your newsletter, your e-zine? Part of laying out a course of action means work! You want to be able to learn and work out what you are learning in the process. For example, I was learning from my coach, Stephen Pierce, specific steps to gain more views on my YouTube videos. I watched the webinar, took notes, and was even given the specific instructions explaining each step. Then it was up to me to take action, shoot the videos, and work out each of those steps of action. It was quite amazing to see results. I even won the grand prize in his video contest with the MRMI Super Cash team! He gave us all the exact steps he uses to gain massive views on his videos and high organic rankings in Google with those wonderful thumbnails showing the video. So, each person on this team who followed these steps, gained the most views, and had well produced videos, would be the grand prize winner! I won an awesome free camera! I also accomplished one of my goals in that 90 day period! Anyway, laying out a strategic course of action that will produce results is key. “A” stands for Adjust your priorities! No matter if you are looking for a ministry marketing plan that produces results or simply wanting to find ways to earn extra money online, you should make personal development a priority. It might mean getting up earlier to spend more time in the Word. It also might mean investing in your finances to go to a training seminar or attend a conference. If you have to watch less television to learn a new skill, do it! Make it a top priority to take care of your mind and your body! Go on a fast from negative words. Make it a habit to develop positive images of where you see yourself going in your ministry marketing plan or business venture earning the finances to be free to serve God! If you want it bad enough, adjusting your priorities will not be an inconvenience for long. Finally, the “N” stands for No excuses! No matter the circumstances, the lack in your bank account, the storm in your relationships, make no excuses to not work. (“You can’t make excuses and make money at the same time.” -Stephen Pierce) You can’t have a successful ministry marketing plan online or have a chance to earn extra money online while making excuses, such as you don’t have the time, or tech ability, the finances, or….. To not make excuses will mean a shift in your thinking for sure. It may mean battling your fears of what other people will say if you step out in faith with trying to do something on the internet. Please don’t let someone’s negative words, or someone clipping your your wings with sarcasm, keep you down. You are an eagle, not a chicken. Leave the chickens on the ground, look up, and fly, fly baby fly! As you continue to flap those wings (work) and fly with a plan of action, you will be soaring before you know it! So dig deep. Write out your plan. Act on the goals. Find the precise methods to make your goals a reality. Adjust your priorities to make the time to work the plan with no excuses. You can do this. Your dream can be a reality. Provision for your vision can happen. Ready to write out your plan? “Then the LORD answered me and said: “Write the vision
And make it plain on tablets,
That he may run who reads it.
For the vision is yet for an appointed time;
But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie.
Though it tarries, wait for it;
Because it will surely come,
It will not tarry.” Habakkuk 2:2-3

Scripted Diet Plans

Who will host- plan a Corporate Event?

Planning and delivering a corporate event may seem daunting but with a little thought and training, you can be sure of running and enjoying an excellent corporate event.

When should you schedule your Corporate Event?

Ensure it’s not on a night that clashes with your local football team playing. Yes I know, we talked about this football lark being all pervading but that’s just how it is. Whenever we set our evening events, we always look at the local team’s fixture list; after all, Kintish are based in Manchester! While you are looking at the Calendar, see what other events are on as well.
In the case of the ‘big corporate event’, schedule it to be a 5.30 for 6 start.
Conversely, when you hold seminars, which are a different concept entirely, consider early morning starts to finish around 10.They are becoming quite popular as people have had breakfast, done their networking and are in the office raring to go for, nearly, a full day’s work.

Where should you hold you Corporate Event?

Chose a venue that someone you know has recommended. Talk to the venue and discuss your requirements in detail. After the discussion set out in WRITING your requirements and ensure that they agree to these. Something always goes wrong on the night anyway but at least you can negotiate down the bill! You should remember that the venue is just as interested in talking to your corporate clients as you are. They will want to keep you all happy.

What is your Corporate Event about?

If you don’t know, why are you holding a corporate event? This is one of the most important aspects of your event planning. The theme must be consistent and the audience must be relevant.

Has the business, as a whole, decided on the whom?

You’re going to find partners will invite some inappropriate guests and there’s not much you can do about it. Grandma is invited (“she was around when I became a partner”); the next-door neighbor, a client of a competing firm, is there. He’s the managing partner’s best mate and goes to all the family celebrations. Such is life.
Having accepted these get down to serious invitees and chose carefully. The issue here is, “Yes, let’s invite her, you just never know”.
It depends on your budget how loose you want to be with your largesse. If you have a small budget then only invite the clients and associates who bring you business. If you have a larger budget then you can look further to those who might bring you business. Do think about your guest list when you run annual events. I get invited every year to a corporate event for which I am most grateful. The partners in the business were once my business partners so I guess they invite me for old time’s sake.
From past experiences this is where I saw the biggest wastage,
“But they come every year” they would say
“Yes, but have they sent us any referrals in the last 8 years?” I would reply
“No, but they might and it would be such a shame blah”
And so on
I only mention all this to stop you wasting money as we so often did.
Something to consider: Is it worth paying an event organizer or should people ‘in marketing’ do it? If it takes chargeable people away from their core business activities, then an event organizer is an option.

Invitation

Invitations should be out 5 weeks before the event. It gives people a chance to organize their diaries but not forget about the event. You’ve sorted out the perfect guest list for the 75th celebrations.125 invitees say they’re coming so I’d budget for 90, any more and you’ll be taking the leftovers home for the kids and dogs. If you’ve neither, warmed up quiches aren’t too bad the next day.

Who will host?

I believe this to be a key issue in whether the event is a success. This part of the planning is often left until very late. A number of key people find a ‘reason’ not be to there. A very good reason, of course. And then at 3.30 on the day of the Corporate Event, the key organizers realise there are only 5 people available and the panic starts. ‘Ben in accounts can be there, just noticed he’s got a new suit on.’ ‘I’ll ask Karen the receptionist she knows everyone. Maybe we can persuade her not to go to her salsa dancing class tonight.’
You’ve all been there I don’t need to highlight the matter further. Just make sure you get absolute commitment from those who act as hosts.

Pre Corporate Event briefing

The firm is spending £10,000 cash and numerous untold lost chargeable hours on this event. Fine, but what do you want from it?
Once you have decided on who is going to host, sometime within 36 hours of the start, get all the team together. This should be run like a military campaign. How many hosts should there be? A good ratio is 7:1. You will get these hosts to agree to spend little or no time huddled together like a rugby scrum any time during the event. Their roll is as follows:
Introductions of guest to guest and between hosts a quick recognition nod and interaction in a group of guests should be the only time communication occurs. After all, there are at least 7 guests apiece to care for!

Everyone needs to agree on certain issues.
• What is required from the event?
• What is known about the guests?
• Who is going to meet and greet?
• Who are the VIP’s and the ‘must speak to’ guests?
• Who already knows who?
• Who is going to talk to whom?
• What signals and gestures will be used for ‘parking’ guests?
• Who is going to introduce who to whom?
• What time are the various members of the team going to be there?
• What time do we expect the last guest will go home? 6 to 9 doesn’t mean anything to guests having a wonderful time!

Corporate Event Food

There is friendly and unfriendly networking food. Friendly food is in small bite sized bits sometimes with wooden sticks through the middle. You can handle it easily and it won’t ruin your guests’ clothes. Vanilla slices, chocolate cream gateaux or large buns filled with egg mayonnaise are unfriendly foods. Plan to offer the former.

Guests’ lists

If you want a higher positive response than normal consider sending out a list of invitees with the invitations. Something as simple as, ‘We are pleased to announce delegates from the following companies have been invited.’ Those looking to meet specific companies will more likely accept. You do want the venue to be full, don’t you?
Whenever we host events, be they social or seminars and workshops we always provide a list of attendees. We obtain permission from the guests first of course. Only once did someone ask to be left off but as he was a member of an anti-crime bureau I understood his reticence. This is an added bonus for everyone and those who have the networking savvy will use this information to best advantage. You may deem it more appropriate at the big events to hand out the guest list at the end of the evening. This could be contained with the going home pack.

Badges and going home packs

How many times do you attend an event and the logo of the host is 4 times the size of your name on the badge? This event is marketing and marketing is all about the client, the prospect and the professional connection. Make the badges, like the food, user friendly. For all our events and seminars we print a BIG Christian name a smaller surname, a line, and then the company name. It makes it so much easier for you and your guests and stops certain people from leering!
If you send people away with a memento or even a marketing pack consider personalising the letter in the envelope. If you put the guest list in, include in the letter something to the effect of ‘If there was someone here this evening you didn’t get a chance to meet, please give us a call to make the necessary introduction. In the letter don’t forget to include thanking guests for spending their valuable time with you.
When we hold seminars we feel obliged to write at the top of the delegate list, ‘This is for information purposes only to use for future contact with people you have met today. Please do not blanket mail or email. Networking is about building relationships; contacting everyone regardless will have the opposite effect.’

Christian youth retreats are said to be some of the most significant events in a teen’s life.  When teens are taken out of their typical environment and put into a different one, the atmosphere is conducive to reflection, decision-making, and significant personal growth.  Unfortunately, not all Christian youths can afford to go to retreats.  However, with a bit of creativity and a little elbow grease, a teen can find a way to earn his way to camp.

Many Christian youth retreats take place over a weekend.  This article, however, will focus on the week-long Christian youth retreats.  These are the ones that teens find “too expensive.”  The first thing to do is determine the actual cost to the camper.  Remember to keep in mind incidentals, like meals and fuel costs.  Once you have the bottom line, check the calendar to see how many weeks there are till the payment due date.  Divide the total due by the number of weeks, and calculate how much cash must be earned or raised each week.  This makes saving for Christian youth retreats seem more possible.  The old adage says you eat an elephant one bite at a time.

Christian youth retreats often offer 3 ways to help a camper afford the cost.  These options include: fund-raisers, reduced fees, and scholarships.   Fund raisers can take the form of the typical door to door product sales, coupon book sales, or raffles.   Still other fund raisers are turned into large events, where the campers volunteer their time to serve at the event, in order to earn money toward Christian youth retreats.

Some families have asked Christian youth retreats and their directors if there is an option of a reduced fee.  Sometimes the camp will accept volunteer work hours at the retreat center as barter for all or part of the week’s stay a Christian camp for the youth retreat.  It is not uncommon that Christian youth retreats offer scholarships to students because they have financial support from donors.

Obviously, the sure way to earn fees for Christian youth retreats is by good old elbow grease.  Teens are able to do many odd jobs.  The typical odd jobs for teens include babysitting, yard work, pet sitting, car washing, and snow shoveling.  But with a little creativity, there is a job for everyone.  It is very rewarding for teens to know that they can earn their own way to any one of many the Christian youth retreats available today.
